hi my male panther cham is 11 months old. I feed him every other day but he is fussy and wont really eat anything except supers at the moment, i still offer him a variety of other feeders all gutloaded and he will eat the occassional locust cricket but rarely. i was just wondering how much he should be eating at around 11 months to a year. he only really eats 1-2 supers every other day ive tried offering him food every day but seems happy eating every other day. his weight at the moment is 100g and he is 14 inches from head to tip of his tail is this healthy ? he drinks well is alert and active and not showing any signs of dehydration i just wonder if he is eating enough but i surpose if he felt hungry he would eat more ? could he just be eating as much as he needs if that makes any sense ?

Any advice would be much appreciated

I have a 8 1/2 month old that wont eat crickets anymore either! He will eat them here and there. He will also eat silkworms, have you tried those?. Loves the Superworms too. I know they slow down somewhat on eating when they get older. As far as the weights and lengths you will have to wait for some of the more experienced members to chime in on that! Mine is eating atleast 2 or 3 silkworms and about 3 supers a day. I have read many threads on here about hunger strikes and being fussy eaters so we are not alone!.

thanks for your reply. yea ive tried silkworms, dubias, butterworms as well as crickets and locusts and he shows no interest but im going to keep trying different feeders but he is stubborn lol.

he is clearly trying to train you into feeding his favorite food.
don't give in and let him starve if you must.

depending on size, I feed only 5 crickets to my panthers or 1 large super.
silkies can be 1 or 2 depending on size.
horns the same way.

I feed my adults every other day to keep them interested in what I bring them to eat.
I have no picky eaters as a result.

slow down the amount of food and feed every other day and never give in to their demands for a favorite food unless the cham is unhealthy and needs it to get through the day.

yeah im going to not give hims supers for a week and just offer crickets locusts dubias etc i only feed him every other day any way but will try this see if he gets hungry enough to eat other feeders. its ok for him not to eat up to a week isnt it ? if he hasnt eaten any alternative food after a week would it be best to give him a couple of supers ?

thanks for the advice

they can go at least a week without food as long as they are healthy from the start.
just don't give in...it's hard, but don't.
