How many pygmys could I put comfortably in an area about 24inx18x18? I was thinking like 1.4

The pro's say 1 pygmy cham per 10 gallons. 24x18x18 is just over 30 gallons, so 1.2 would be a healthier ratio. You could try 1.3 if it's heavily planted, and see how it goes. I think 5 chams in that size would be pushing the limit though. Ask around and see what others say.
