How long do chams normally mate for?

Well i finally have proof this time around that my female will soon bear eggs. I finally got her to mate with MY male i had previously. I guess the gentleman i bought her from was either uninformed or just ignorant because she was not prego when i bought her...but i have proof now...and i was just curious how long do they mate for? I just waited until they parted ways and put them back in their seperate cages...should I have done anything differently? they probably had 10-15 mins of time to theirselves...the female was very receptive to him, i think it will finally work out this time.

If they mate once it can work , but if it's the female's first time, it might not take (though it usually does.) Some people just let them lock up once, others leave them together for up to several days until the female starts to reject the male.

this is her second time that she will possibly bear eggs...should I have left them together longer? i want it to work this time...they seperated after like 15 mins so i figured that was long enough? any other suggestions and or experiences that may help me??

Personly I leave the male in there untill the female warns him off because he may go bac for a second helping, I also try again the next day just incase

What do you mean "second time that she will possibly bear eggs?" You don't have to put them back together, but you can try. You need to monitor them to make sure the female is okay with it and there is no aggression though.

well i got her from a breeder and he said that she had a clutch of eggs previously like 6 months prior to me purchasing her, so i know she is capable of laying eggs....and when i got her, he thought she was pregnant and had fertile eggs in her tummy, which was wrong. I had a huge thread about it completely trippin' out thinking i was gonna go into this with no idea of what i am doing, but i did my research only to find out she wasn't pregnant... now im prepared but i mean there shouldn't be any reason for her not to lay eggs this time around, right? I mean clearly they mated and what not...my male was bought from florida from a supplier that this website supports and i imagine he has good genetics so i'm just kind of wondering what to expect i guess. I'm new to chams that lay eggs...ive always had jacksons that gave live birth....
