How bad is OVER Supplementing?

Can someone tell me what happens when you over supplement? What are the effects of over supplementing, how do I know if I am oversupplementing, what are the changes in the chameleons health, is it worse than undersupllementng?Someone please tell me. Thanks!

Oversupplementing calcium is harder to do. As long as you don't dust the insects so they look like ghosts it should be okay as long as it's in balance with the D3, vitamin A and phosphorous.

Fat soluble vitamins A (prEformed) and D3 from supplements are easier to overdose because they build up in the system. D3 produced from exposure to UVB won't likely build up as long as the chameleon can move in and out of it at will. Beta carotene (prOformed) sources of vitamin A cannot build up in the system either.

These might help too...

Your vet can do bloodwork and an x-ray to tell if you are over supplementing. If you over supplement is can cause the chameleons organs to calcify and can also cause gout. I live in FL and my chameleons go outside for hours each day. I also feed a wide variety of well gut loaded feeders. My vets has me using only multiple vitamins after viewing their X-rays and blood work.
