Hornworm-Hating Cham?

I decided to spend a bit of extra money on hornworms for Rango. However, his reaction wasn’t a pleasant one.

He immediately puffed up when introduced to the worm, and held his hand up to his face, entering karate (defense) mode. He even shrunk away from the worm, even though I wasn’t moving it closer to him or forcing it into his face. He acted like the worm was trying to bite him, which was… honestly a bit funny.

I think my veiled might be the first cham ever to hate a hornworm treat? He ate one once but I guess he decided he didn’t like them

I read for some the color may be alarming to them initially.
The size of them is also important to consider. It may also be a combination of intruding on his space too. You could try putting one on a branch within his eyesight, letting curiosity entice him on his own terms. They're pretty stationary worms, and have fairly good grip and won't really run and hide, or lose grip and fall like some other bugs do.

But of course, just like people, they have likes and dislikes. What works for some won't for others.

It takes time for them to know it is food. Make sure they are smaller hornworms. When these get big they can bite pretty hard.
