Holding my panther?

I just recently got my 4 month old male ambilobe panther chameleon. I have been trying to leave him alone to not scare him and let him explore his cage and get used to his new home. I do understand that not all panthers are friendly and that they aren't lizards that should be held too often. When should I try to hold it? Even put my hand out to him? I don't want to scare him or make him feel uncomfortable. I have tried to hand feed him but he only ate from my hand twice.

Nice slow movements, keep up the hand feeding, he'll get used to you.. slowly move your hand towards him from underneath, keep an eye on him, if he puffs up or starts gaping don;t pull your hand away right quick, just stop moving it closer and if he calms down move a little closer, if not, slowly pull your hand away..
It takes patience but he could get more used to you or he may not..
I'd let him acclimate to his home for a week though
