Hi

I seen on the safe plant list that Hibiscus is a good plant.

Went to the local Nursery today to get a few for the outside enclosures but seen they had 2 different types

The called the one Tropical because it needs to be brought inside in the winter, is this kind safe to use. just not sure of the differences.

thanks

Hibiscus are safe and some Veilds like to eat the flowers which is fine too. The problem is they are a flowering plant and unless you have a grow light on them in addition to the uvb light, they will probably not survive or thrive very well.

yeah was always my impression hard to get them to thrive in canada without proper lighting and/or green house

Hi Carol,

I agree and they also tend to draw whiteflies
Of course you can't use pesticide to get rid of this and they are too small for a cham to eat.
Beautiful but have been a problem indoors
I use jasmine vine now. They climb and flower and never seem to get tyhe pests

Do you know the specific species of jasmine you're using? How frequently are you getting blooms and what kind of lighting setup do you have? I'm planning a new custom enclosure and have been looking for different plant ideas.

I am with Brad. I would like to know as well. These new enclosures I had built are huge and just dying to be filled with plants :)
