Hibernation/aestivation?

Does anybody provide these "rest" periods for their chams? Ive read that they benefit greatly from this, but you have to allow them a fasting period before lowering temp/humidity so there's no food in their stomach or intestines to putrify. Anyone have experience with this?

The only people I know of that provide a 'hibernation' like timeframe is people with parsons.

I've read a few things that claim it lengthens their lifespan if you have a few rest periods through the year and that it also aides in their readiness to breed. It just makes sense to me that this should be part of captive care, since our goal as a keeper is to replicate the natural environment they come from. I believe many chameleon species have these periods of rest in the wild before breeding season comes, besides Calumma Parsonii Parsonii. Just kinda wanted to see others thoughts on the subject, and if anyone simulated this in captivity.:D
