hi im new to this and this is my first time message. I brought my 16 week old chameleon about 2 weeks ago I read books and internet pages and I cant seem to find the ansews im looking for. when I got my chameleon she was very thin and you could see all her bones in her sides, she is now getting bigger but the ribs are still showing is this normal? Today when I got up she came out for her breakfast and she sat with her mouth open for a minnit or two then moved on abit and sat again with her mouth open iv never seen her do this before could this be the start of an illness? plz help worred about her thank you.

tank: in the tank I have plastic plants, vine, sun light and heat lamp, a water drip and a pot for the crickets. I spray her and the tank 3 to 4 times a day. Im geting her new tank ready this is going to contain live plants (ficus) and all the other bits.

Chams in general are a slim lizard, excepting when gravid/pregnant, overfed in captivity etc. Its normal for you to be able to see its ribs. (note im talking about a healthy young animal, we havent seen yours)
Sitting with the mouth open is sometimes an effort to cool down. Be sure the cage is not too hot.

Perhaps he filled it in within the hour of your post and hers - hehe.

As for the ribs - my veiled is fat and happy but sometimes when he's basking I can see his ribs, or sometimes when I accidentally open his cage too fast, he puffs up!

Julie he is from England, I have never seen you make a mistake before. Maybe:D you are human after all.:D:D

Ohhhh-I make plenty of mistakes-trust me! :D

I am, however, pretty sure that he added that after he saw my post! :p
