Hera is laying eggs!!! :)

So the other day Hera, the little WC girl we got from Chad, laid one egg on top of her plant's soil. IT BOGGLES ME WHY SHE DIDN'T PUT IT IN HER LAYING BIN!!!!! Now 2 days after the first egg... she is digging in both her plant's soil and her laying bin!!!! Gosh, I am so worried about her. Her cage has been covered with a blanket to reduce stress since I felt the eggs inside her belly. Any advice on what else I can do for her? ... I'm stressing BIG time. All this is happening in the middle of moving, thankfully I don't have to move her till the end of July!!!

Sometimes they dig a few test holes before they decide the hole is just right. Lily would shift her soil around for a few days before digging for real. Is the laying medium damp enough for her? Lily had a choice of two laying sites - they can be very fussy! Fingers crossed for her and you, I know just how stressful laying time is for us - the chams just get on with it in auto pilot!:D

The laying is medium damp... She should be able to tunnel to the bottom or in a spiral or however she pleases without it collapsing on her.

Sounds ok. Maybe she's not satisfied with the hole yet then. I gave Lily a mix of soil and play sand in her tub. I know some chams prefer to lay in sand while others prefer soil. Lily had a choice of both for her first clutch and chose the soil.

Her laying bin has a mix of play sand and organic soil... I suppose she could lay in her plant's soil if she chooses. I peeked in and she was deep into a hole in her laying bin. (Which is a large bucket)

Update!!!!!!

Hera finished laying her eggs about 30 min ago. She laid a total of 14 eggs. and she is such a small girl!!!! She looks tired and weak. I offered food and misted her cage. She drank up some water and may have eaten a cricket or two. I'm am very worried about her still, but I figure its best to let her warm up then shut out the lights. She needs her beauty sleep.

We had seen that sphagum moss used for other reptiles and it seemed to work for other people as well. We also have perlite, but it was real course and thats all we could find around. Does anyone have other suggestions for the eggs?

:D Congrats! Glad you both came through ok! Feed her well for a few days (don't forget the calcium supplement) and keep her water intake up too. Lily laid over 100 infertiles in each clutch and was back to normal the following day both times! They are such amazing creatures!:D
