My 5 month old veiled chameleon won't eat. I think he is afraid of his crx, I just offered him one and he ran away from me. I got him super worms on Wednesday and I gave him a lot that day and found out those are super addictive and now those are the only thing he eats. Yesterday he had one crx 2 supers and a piece of strawberry. Is he just getting at that age where his metabolism is starting to slow down so he is eating less? He is healthy and strong and happy. He pooped this thing out this morning and I do t know what to think of it, pls help (first picks from today and the others from yesterday)

He's a very handsome boy. It's always a good idea to get a fecal if he hasn't had one lately. Parasite can also cause them not to eat.
Yes that is very important. My boy would not eat much, only 2 to 3 at a time. I had a fecal done and it ended up he had coccidia. His appetite is HUGE now!

No their metabolism should not be slowing down at 5 months. I mean maybe a little as compared to a baby, but not enough to stop eating. The problem is you gave him superworms! lol They must taste like filet mignon or something because alot of chameleons will only want superworms once they have been offered them.

He looks a little dehydrated and so does his stool.

Hi there,on the previous thread that we discuss,"superworm" is only the temporary solution since he only eats mealworms at the time,I also recommend to feed more variety food as soon he start putting on some weight since he did look a bit skinny on the photo in the other thread,at the time.
Sometime when the younger cham doesn't eat as much as they supposed to,and the poop are looking weird compare with the solid brown poop, maybe its time to collect the fresh weird poop n head to the chameleons specialist vet to get a fecal test just to be sure he is healthy as he can be,since you are extremely worried by his health conditions,I will highly recommend that visit to the Vet as soon as possible, let the vet know that u would like to have a fecal test done for him,so you will know exactly what went wrong,I will wish ur cham get better soon.please do not delay this option since time is ticking and u want him to be well!

hi quick update for everyone. I will take in the idea of a fecal as i should get one done. Yesterday i did not fed him at all to make him get a little hungry. I offered him 5 different crx and he did not take any of them buttt today he ate 12!!! And his pop is a nice brown with white urate :) I am super happy he started to eat again today. Hopefully tomorrow he will eat the same tmro. I am looking into getting some other types of worms for him like butterworms or silk but i am afraid they will be to big. I am not going to give him as much supers as i was before ( 4 a day YIKES )

lol today he ate 6 crx, a lil less than yesterday, but had 10 mealworms OOPS:confused: and his poop was a nice brown with white urate. I brought him outside (it was 76) and he loved it!! i had to bring him in earlier than i wanted bc hawks started to come near us  but i am going to bring out again tmro bc it is supposed to be warm like it was today.

Birds are their natural enemies. It scares the he'll out of my guy, Hanible to even go outside, sometimes.
