Help!

Our 3 and a half month old ambilobe panther seems to have developed some blackened areas around his snout and eye area.. Does anybody have any ideas as to what it can be?
We checked on him less than an hour ago and he was fine.

Did you by any chance feed butterworms today? There have been many chameleons(mine included) who have had weird reactions to butterworms. My chameleons eyes turned black just like that. I do not feed butterworms anymore. My chameleon's eyes never did it again, only on the day I fed the butterworms. Also, are you positive you have a male???

Yes we fed him a butter worm less than an hour before I noticed it. Sure its a male we had it sexed about a week ago...

That explains it then! When it happened to my chameleon it took about two days to go away. Ok on the male too. Was just wondering that's all because his nose (rostral) is very short like a female, but he is young and they are not pronounced so much in babies like that. Weird thing about the butterworms huh? i had fed my other two chameleons butterworns with no issues. I guess it is just some type of weird allergic reaction that effects some and not others.

Mine also did this from butterworms, it will go away after a few days

I'm wondering if it's just a change in coloration, or if the reaction causes discomfort or anything? As soon as I get home from vacation, I will be trying out tons of new feeders, butterworms included, and I want to know if it would make him uncomfortable. -Zach

Yes it's almost completely gone... Weird how he developed this reaction, we've been treating him to butter worms once a week for over a month... Thank you for the quick reply

Did the butter worm have a pinkish tinge to it? I've noticed, when I have butter worms, that some of them will have a little more color than the others. I wonder if that has anything to do with it.

Here is a picture of my chameleon after he ate a butterworm. I would have normally freaked out, but after reading on here and seeing it happen to others I was sure it was caused by the butterworm. It was gone the next day.
