How sure are you of that basking temp?

also, you should be misting him alot more.

do you have other chams?

did he recently turn dark, or have you changed anything in his enclosure?

I have a Komodo digital stat fixed to his basking perch. He has been dark since we got him a month ago. I put it down to change of environment

I would get another digital temp gauge and double check that temp. I say this becuase they oftentimes turn dark when cold as well as stressed.

i would mist him at least 4 times a day.

what is around him> any animals he can see?

thanks for your reply, i have checked the thermometer its pretty accurate.i cant see anything obvious that would scare him. he always hangs around the middle of the enclosure would this mean he is too hot?

normally yes, hanging around the middle of a cage implies they are too hot.

try raisng your basking lamp some to cool it off. also, it would be good if you can get him outside for some natural sun.

i would lower the basking temp to around 85. i know that it doesnt seem like much.. but it can do wonders. sometimes.

well normally the darker coloration could mean too cold, but you say he hangs near the middle of the cage.. and if you rbasking temp is right.. thast not too cold for him.

he also does appear to be stressed.

its puzzling, i cant seem to find out why, ive checked to see if anything may scare him in the room but cant see anything. hes eating fine so hopefully its just a phase.
