Are you sure thats a veiled.? It might be my phone but she doesn't look like a veiled more like a panther. and a male at that...

yeah she is she just turns really dark green when i hold her since shes young. she gets scared easily. but when i bought her i was told she was a female veiled. unless i was told wrong. :p the panthers were also like 250$ she/he(lol) was only 75$

Hmmm....could you get another picture.? Like more of a full on side instead of at an angle.

Oh my! I missed that that was your first post. Sorry about that
So...
Welcome to CF where the addiction to chameleon keeping has officially started.

About that mark, it looks like a burn, but I'm not one hundred percent sure...what are her temps at.? How close are your bulbs.? What types do you have.?

Hi, banansmeow....welcome!

I think it's the angle of the picture combined with your phone, mychamtini...that's much more of a casque than a panther would have, but not the wonderful, manly casque of a male veiled. I'd say female veiled is very likely right.

It might be a thermal burn, though, if it is, it doesn't look bad.

Do you have a reason to suspect she could get a burn? Can she push up on his cage top and touch a light? You need to make sure there isn't that sort of opportunity.

You might want to buy something to put on in case spines start coming off....I'm not sure you can prevent that, but if it happens you'll want to put an antibiotic cream on it to keep it from getting infected.

hey and thanks! i have it setup at the moment with the lights just sitting on top, but she doesnt like to crawl on the top of the cage ever. ive been watching her movement and she only did it once since ive had her and never again. the time she did it once was when i bought her but after that she never went on the top again. im planning on moving the lights off the cage just waiting on a paycheck next week. but the only reason i think she might be burnt is because if u notice on the picture(as crappy as it is especially on a iphone) lol it has a little red spot on the spine..ive never noticed it but today. the room was some what cold last night since my friend turned down the a/c but only to 70 degrees which isnt so bad but she seemed cold. i turned the light on around 8am and left to work after feeding her. i only leave the uav and the heat lamp on for 8-10 hours a day. idk im just scared for her. i really love my chameleon i just dont want her to be hurt ;/ sorry for the balled upmessage im tired and to much on the mind for proper typing.( i also did mist er in the morning ) forgot to add that

haha all good thanks! i have a 75 watt heat lamp and a 25 uav tropical they are on the cage but as i said to the other gentlemen that ill be fixing that asap. also ill try and take another picture i woke her up to do it which pissed her off but w.e its for her health! :p

You might want to raise the lights off the cage. I know people put the lights on the cage, but if you have a burn concern, you should elevate them.

It can be as easy as putting something on the cage, then setting the lights on top of those. If your temps were hot I would say to use coffee cups, as they are not, you might have to look about a bit because you need 3 or 4 things that are the same size which can bear the weight of the light. A child's tea cup set would be perfect...just put some of the cups on top of the cage, set the light on the cups.

alright im gonna work on something and im also about to post some more pictures. the temps of the cage are about 78-83 degrees F at the highest branch closest to the lights. humidity is most of the time 55-65

also i do bring her outside on partly cloudy days cage and all just so she gets real sun. how long do u think she should stay outside? jw to make sure im doing it properly. i mist her cage before and after to make sure shes hydrated and not burning up.

thats all the new pictures i got with my phone not my girlfriends iphone. hope they help.

I still think you want to elevate the basking light, but I also think you might want to up the wattage of the bulb. You're temps are just about perfect for a female and if you raise the lamp you'll lose some heat.

Just from my observations, I think what happens is the lamp gets hot and they bump up against it...that's why elevating it helps. It's not the bulb necessarily, it's the hood. You might even be able to get away with just putting a few layers of duct tape in 3 places on the hood to raise it up a quarter of an inch.
