Hi.
So i am making my enclosure for two pigmy's (first chameleons) and it is a an aquarium. I plan to include a waterfall/pond, and potted live plants at the bottom. My question is, since it has a solid bottom and no drainage, is their anything i can place at the bottom going 3 or 4 inches up so that when i have to clean the substrate i can remove it all at once like a rubber pouch or plastic or something?.... any suggestions..? what is the best way to clean the cage?

But dont Pigmy chameleons need lots of humidity? the guy at the pet store suggested to attach a tude from a humidifier going to the inside of the cage. What do you suggest for pigmy's specifically about the humid thing?

Aquarium?

I have been planning to set up an aquarium for 2 pigmy's? it is 30 inches long, 18 inches tall, and 1 foot wide. Is this acceptable? Any suggestions?

pigmy's are in a class of there own they can live in a aquarium just fine. I would ditch the waterfall they can drown and bacteria can build rapid. Depends on how often u clean you can use a rubber mat or a wash cloth then just clean the washcloth in washer or put a new one in

Use the search button for Pygmy enclosures and you will see how to build the layers.
Most pygmy keepers don't clean the floor, they use Isopods (AKA sow bugs, roly polies) and springtails to clean the enclosure.:D

Hello again, I also have pygmy's (brev's). If you start out with the tank set up correctly you don't need to do much cleaning. the pro on this subject is a lady named julirs. You can go to her website and she tells how to properly set them up. She also sells ones she had breed that are great. That is where mine are from.:) http://www.julirschameleons.com If you need more info send her a pm, she is really helpful. Best of luck.

I don't know anything about pygmies but I'm sure someone is gonna tell you that a pond/waterfall= bad idea anyway. I don't have potted plants at the bottom like you do but I put paper towel/normal towels on the bottom. when they don't absorb anymore water i just remove em, dry up the remaining water, and put new ones in their place.

I merged all your threads.
Please do not continue to post new threads on the same topic.
Tom Routhouska was the go to guy on this subject, he is no longer on the forums but a lot of his old threads are .... search deep on the pygmy enclosure forum.
You seem to be having some trouble researching this on your own, so I will spoon feed you the two most important articles:

You are also getting a lot of bad advice on this thread ... people if you do not have experience with this species, please refrain from posting!!!
