Help with Choosing a mate

I am learning a lot reading up on breeding panthers because I am very interested in the hobby! I have a male ambilobe imported from Madagascar that is just over a year old now. My question is when choosing a female mate does it have to be an ambilobe to keep the genetics together or is it normal to mix them up and say breed a nosy be with an ambilobe?

You can cross locales to make a "designer cross"(but people usually like pure lines), but I'd recommend you stick to the same locale your male Ambilobe is.
