Hi please please anyone help. My adult veiled chameleon eye is playing up. He keeps literally scratching his eye against vines and sticks and when he looks forward the whole front of his eye sweeps up like a balloon. And I can see this is stressing him out. Please help

Have you trying to rinse it with saline. He may have something in it. Did he recently shed perhaps he didn't fully shed his eye skin and has some left in the folds of his eye? It could be many things I would definitely start by rinsing his eye for a good minute or two. You should call your Vet also he should be seen.

Sounds like he has something in his eye.

Usually their eyes buldge up like ballons when they're cleaning them. Scared me the first time I seen it. But if they go back to normal, it's fine.

Are you using anything such as substrate to irritate his eye? What type of plants are you using?

Also you can put him on a plant inside the shower. Turn the shower on hot/warm and aim it against the wall. This should create a fine warm mist for your cham to soak in. He'll maybe drink water and also clean his eyes. Do this about 2-3 times a week for 20 minutes.

My cham had the same problem about a month ago, took him to the vet for a check up and I was given Bausch & Lomb "Sterile" eye drops. I gave Jasper a drop in each eye, 2 times a day for 10 days straight. Also did the shower trick.

Now, He hardly ever cleans his eyes anymore. Only when it's misting and never rubs them against his vines.

Thank you for the reply. Got a focus tree in there with him. But I have noticed he hasn't been eating as much at all and it really does look like his whole eye lid gonna explode hiswhose eye is so swollen

Yup. Thats normal lol.

Thats how they clean their eyes out. Trust me...To this day, i still think my chams eye is going to explode
