Maybe/most likely a lack of sense of security, the animal have had in it's brevious terrarium (although not suitable in several ways it provided a narrow, "protected" environment).
Solution: Fixing cotton towles or something like that on eg. the terrarium's frontside and one or eventually two sides (if the terrarium is placed in front of a wall).
That
- would provide a protected environment (again),
- would help to increase humidity (if you moist the towels) and
- would still provide proper ventilation.
