Help! RI???

Hello all,

I just noticed tonight that my chameleon has been taking deep exhales through his nose at night, while sleeping. However, he does not have any bubbling from his nose or mouth or mucous/saliva buildup. He breathes normally throughout the day, no signs of "rattling" or "wheezing" when he is breathing. My chameleon's temperatures are usually between 80-85 degrees Fahrenheit. He just recently shed and has no lethargy or loss of appetite.

I took him to the vet recently for a checkup, he did x-rays and said that everything was beautiful and he didn't notice that anything was wrong. Other than the deep exhales I've heard about every 15-30 minutes, he is normal. I'm just unsure if it could be the start of a respiratory infection possibly?

Thank you!!

I will post photos of the cage when I get home- I work until 8 pm. Here are a few recent pictures that I have of him in my camera roll. The second picture is of him drinking water from the dripper. @kinyonga

I've noticed that his deep inhalation breathing is still going on periodically throughout the day and night- usually every 15-30 minutes. That is the only sign of a RI that I've noticed- no mucous coming from the nose or mouth, no gaping (unless he is under his basking light for an extended amount of time), and he is still very active and will eat all of the crickets, worms, or veggies I give him.

I'm possibly thinking it could be the start of a RI most likely, I set up an appointment to see my veterinarian on Tuesday. I tried to listen to his lungs with my stethoscope to see if I heard any wheezing or fluid accumulation but it sounded clear- from my understanding and he wasn't very happy about it.

Do you think I should see an exotic emergency vet tomorrow and get him started possibly on antibiotics or should I just wait until my appointment on Tuesday? Thank you!

Think I would wait for appointment on tue. You may get different answers from others but without any other symptoms, I think it can wait 2 days.

Thank you! Everything else is normal so I'm hoping that if it is the start of a RI, it's caught early. I appreciate the reply, I'll keep you posted.
