Current Problem - Our guy's eyes are not opening!!! To start out with, we have been to the vet. Our Veiled is 2 years old and we have had him for a year and a half. The problem started with swelling in one eye and then the other eye wasn't opening properly. We were given antibiotic drops. We put these on a q-tip and wipe the solution on his eyes twice daily.
I have been putting him outside for the last couple of days to get some natural sun as well. He has been in such good health and now isn't eating at all. We are so worried.
My husband isn't home right now so I can't answer all of the questions about bulbs and brands, but I'm pretty sure we are using the correct type of lights. We gut load our crickets. He will eat the pothos sometimes and I used to see him drink.

Without those specifics it is hard to say what's going on. There are several things that can cause a cham to keep eyes shut. Though you mentioned that one eye was swollen and then the other. Chams can get infections in their nasal sinuses that can affect a duct near their eye as well. Did this cham ever have any swellings on its face or snout? That is often where they start. If the antibiotic eye drops didn't help, there may be an infection that isn't in the eye itself. Also, sometimes a eye problems can be caused by dehydration (too dry in the room and cage) and a vitamin A deficiency. We'd need more nutritional info to tease this out. Also a picture would really help.

You didn't mention a multivit. Ever try giving him vit a? Your case seems at first glance to be classic vit a deficiency.

You might try a single drop from a human vit a capsule every day or two for a few days and see if it clears up. If it does, then include a multivitamin with vit a in it once or twice a month as part of his dusting schedule (reptivite is what I use)

Fluxlizard, Nope, no multivitamins. I thought he was getting enough with the gut loaded crickets. I'm thinking I was wrong.
Just went out and grabbed some vit A capsules and are trying them now. In fact just gave him his drop and put him in his cage for the night. Feeling hopeful for the morning.

We force fed him tonight some pedialyte with calcium powder mixed in and 3 meal worms. He wasn't interested in eating but we finally got him to swallow.
I hope he is feeling better in the morning.

Our local reptile store didn't give us much hope, but I'm not giving up on my guy!
