Hello!
I'm getting my first chameleon tomorrow and Im going out to buy the bulbs today. Im planning on having a basking light, UVB light, night light, and maybe an extra heating lamp. What bulbs do you guys have or recommend for each?
Welcome to the forums. What kind of a chameleon are you getting? That's way more bulbs that you need. Chameleons do not need a light or heat at night. I recommend the Reptisun 5.0 tube style for UVB and a regular household bulb for basking. That should be the only lighting you need. I have a blog for new keepers of veileds and panthers I'm linking below. https://www.chameleonforums.com/blo...-keepers-young-veiled-panther-chameleons.html
As jannb said, no need for light or heat at night unless temps get below 60 degrees in your house. right now i'm using a compact florescent on my baby veiled and a 24" T5 on my 15 month old Ambilobe Panther. the compact bulb is a 10.0 reptisun and the other is a 12% uvb Arcadia from light your reptiles. like Jann i use a regular house hold bulb for basking. Any light at night will disrupt their sleep. Actually healthy for them to have a 10-15 degree drop in temps at night.
