Hi everyone, I am new here and have been lurking for quite sometime. Had some questions answered and new things and tips learned. I recently acquired a 5 month old Veiled Chameleon. His name is Falco Falcone. He was a bit timid at first, hissed when i got near him. but after a few days, he's been ok with me getting near him to feed him so that tells me (according on here) that he's getting used to his crib and myself. i can notice that he has a bit of mbd and ive taken measures to stop it, again from help from everyone here, ive scheduled him to get calcium shots from the vet. supplemented his food accordingly (i doubt he was on a proper regiment prior to me).
Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - Veilled Chameleon, Male, 5 months, Have had him for about a week and a half.
Handling - once every 2 days if that. only time i go near him is to feed him. (training him to cup, and hand feed.)
Feeding - medium crickets. 5 in the cup, 5 free range in the crib. evryday if he eats them all. Gut loading with carrots.
Supplements - Rep-Cal WITH D3 once every 2 weeks. Rep-Cal WITHOUT D3 every feeding. Multivitamins once every two weeks.
Watering - Drip System. Mist for 2 mins, twice a day. He does drink but i never catch him. His urate shows that he is well hydrated.
Fecal Description - Normal looking feces according to the Poop Guide on here. He has not been tested for parasites but will be when he goes for his calcium shots.
History - As far as i know not really. Aside from the signs of MBD that im trying to nip in the butt before it gets worse.
Cage Info:
Cage Type - Glass (helps with controlling the humidity until i get a ficus plant in there. Screen top. 24x24x48
Lighting - Zoo Med dual dome combo. Exo Terra 60 watt heat basking bulb. Forgot who made the UVB but it is the coiled bulb to go in the combo fixture. I used to have the UVB and Basking light on for 12 hours and then a red night light for him but i read up on here that the temps at night could go as low as 50 at night so i no longer used a night light.
Temperature - cage floor is 69-70 degrees. basking spot is around 85-95 degrees. Lowest overnight tempis 65 degrees. Temps are measured with a laser thermometer. the temps are measured by a thermometer and a humidity gauge.
Humidity - Humidity is anywhere between 70%-80% I mist twice a day for 2 mins each time. I will add a ficus plant soon to help maintain the levels. Humidity is measured with one of the gauges i got along with a thermometer.
Plants - Fake plants and vines for now. Ficus will soon be added.
Placement - Cage is placed in my bedroom, not a high traffic part of it. Not near vents or fans but plenty air circulation. Top of the cage is about 4-5feet from the floor.
Location - North Jersey!
Hope i answered most of the info there. im still learning. Any and all the help are welcomed. I am starting the first stages of helping him with his MBD. Since i've gotten him, he's been eating and showing much better signs. He doesnt seem as weak and i just cant wait for him to get to the vet. looking forward to his healthy recovery. and sorry for the long post and thanks again for all the help so far.
