Heated water for mister?

I'm looking into adding some sort of heat source so my chams aren't sprayed with freezing cold water everyday. What does everyone use here?

I use a 10 gallon bucket as my resevoir so it empties within 2-3 days. Do you use anything bigger?

i'm sure they have something you can stick into the water. Kinda like those things you can stick in horse troughs to keep it from icing over

Howdy Dave,

Although it isn't my favorite idea for heating misting water, many of us use the Hydor 300W inline heater to heat the water (maybe 90F) as it leaves the tank on the way to the pump. It would be just about the same thing to heat the water in the tank with a 25W $20 aquarium heater except that the water tends to get slimey more easily that way. I keep hitting-up mfgrs/distributers to come-up with a compact, efficient inline heater that could be put just behind each mist nozzle. I made my own handmade heaters to do that in addition to the Hydor unit but I still use both methods at the same time anyway. In fact, I also use a ~25W aquarium heater to keep the tank water around 75F (same as room temp during the warm seasons) during the winter months (winter in Manhattan Beach?).

A mini-inline heater would be another item that I'm sure some overseas mfgr could knock-out for a profit :).

Are chameleons generally happy--or at least content--with room temp water? I live in the north east, but my house generally stays at about 70 even in the winter.

My chams seem to like being misted more when is nice and warm. In order to get the mist warm I warm the water untill it's really hot, so by the time it's touching them it's cooled down quite a bit.

I do the same. Its luke warm when it sprays out and they really seem to enjoy it!:)
