Which are the best fixtures for just the basking bulb.? My house is cold, I have to use a higher watt bulb. Just wanting to know the best and where the best priced ones are.

Any dome really, home depot sells them cheap. I would use one w/ a ceramic fixture though.

What do you mean by a ceramic fixture.?
By ceramic i mean the part of the dome that holds the bulb.. some cheap fixtures come with plastic holders that can melt/ catch fire if you use too high wattage bulb. If you plan on using a low wattage bulb either should be fine.
Do you have any harsware stores near you?
If not you can order one through LLL or another site sponsor.

Awesome. Looks like I need to go there for this and uvb fixtures now.
The linear plant light. Can I get those in the aquarium section of pet smart.? I saw some, just didnt know if they were the right ones.

hahah yeah when you buy lighting that isnt uvb always go with something out of a hardware store. they are a fraction of the "Reptile" lights price and do the same exact thing.
when youre looking at flourecent tubes and even cfls theyre usually categorized as Daylight-blue hue, bright white-very white, and soft white-yellow hue
(soft white simulates the color of incandescents, thats the type of bulb you would want in a lamp or fixture in your house)
there are other ones at hardware stores. some aquariums and plants but they end up having either an overly pinkish hue or blueish hue. i wouldnt go with those unless youre trying to offset the color of an existing bulb/tube for a more natural looking light overall.

yeah if youre using anything over 60 or 75w its probably going to need to be ceramic. you need to look at what the fixtures are rated for when you buy them. there should be a clear tag on the dome or wire that tells you what its good for.
