He Made It!!!

Well Loki (male Ambilobe) is finally here! He is such a handsome boy. He is seriously the sweetest thing in the world. I'm so used to dealing with the devil (Bodhi the Veiled) that this little guy seems like pure heaven!

As soon as I opened that box, he looked up and crawled right onto my hand. I was trying to get him in his new home to warm up, but he refused. I stood there for 15 minutes (not complaining) trying to coax him onto a vine. He spent pretty much the entire day basking. I had a hard time getting him to eat at first, but he came along. He had about 5 silk worms and a handful of crickets. I can't stress enough how easy this is going to be as compared to my other Cham. I try not to pick favorites, but it might be too late. Lol.

I put plastic over the left side of Bodhi's cage so they couldn't see each other. But by the way their cages are positioned, they still could. So Bodhi now has black plastic over the side and front of his cage. It looks pretty white trash and now nobody can see him. But honestly, I think he likes it better. Haha.

Here are a few pics of Loki straight out of the box.. enjoy. :D

Congratulations on your new little one :)
Nothing better then having them climb onto your hand the minute you open the box. Makes you just fall in love with them at first site :)

Great photos too!

Thank you for all of the kind words everyone! I couldn't be more happy. He's eating, drinking, and pooping like a champ. Lol. I actually saw him drink like a normal Chameleon yesterday! I'm not used to all of this. Bodhi (Veiled) doesn't do anything the way a Cham is supposed to do things. I love him dearly, but he seriously has to be one of the most difficult animals ever. It's really sad because if he ever becomes sick, there is no way to get him out of his cage for a vet visit. Poor thing just hates the world. I really lucked out with Loki. This is one of the main reasons I bought him. I wanted a Cham that was easy to work with, and I didn't even realize how crazy Bodhi was until Loki got here. I knew he was nuts, but to some degree I thought all Chams were like that. I'm going Panther all the way from now on.

The only concern I have with Loki is that he has a little spot on his nose. It looks like shed, and I'm really hoping it's not. I don't want it to mess up his blood flow or anything. Especially considering it's on his face. You can see it in the pics I posted. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I'm going to post some more pics once I upload them to photobucket. I couldn't be more in love. :D

I love the name you picked...That's my six month old morph cross's name too :) I thought it was very fitting and unique! He's beautiful, congrats!!

So yesterday Loki crawled onto my hand and I decided to let him explore for a bit and get to know the layout. Well he chilled out on me for about 5 minutes and then was ready to go back into his cage. He quickly ran up my arm, grabbed onto my hair, and sat on top of my head. I was the only one home so I started to get a little worried. I have hard wood floors and didn't want him to fall. So I sat on my bed, and tried rolling around like an idiot. I was hoping he would climb off and go on my pillow. But every time I rolled, he moved on the other side of my head. Earlier I had opened my curtain and he seemed to like the light. So I went over to my window, opened the curtain, and he climbed right up it. I was so relieved. I was then able to get him to crawl on my hand and put him back in his home. The little bugger is so curious. I was able to snap this picture while he was on my curtain. I just wanted to give you the backstory of this pic.

This is his second night sleeping in his new home.

And here he is hating on my iPhone. The only time he puffs up is when I take pictures. I'm going to hold off on pics until he gets acclimated.

I don't want to leave Bodhi out, he is sensitive about these kinds of things. Lol.

Thank you. Great minds think alike. ;)

Apparently the only known origin of the name is from Norse mythology. You should look it up. It's pretty interesting. Loki wasn't the greatest guy in the world, but he had a cool name. Lol.

Thank you. :)

He is 3 months and roughy 2 weeks old. I'm pretty sure we share the same birthday too. But he came from Chameleon Paradise. His sire is Candy Cane Jr. and he has parts of Jake in him. You can check out the website. I had been calling Screameleons, Kammer's, and a few other places for weeks and they didn't have what I was looking for at the time. I'd seen Bruce's website a few times and quite a few people on the forum have had great reviews. I was about to give up and then something came over me. I just called him up and after talking to Bruce for an hour I'd bought a new Ambilobe. Haha. I couldn't be more happy with Bruce and his Chameleons. He is such a good guy and will talk to you about everything. Not like some places that just want to make a sale. He knows his stuff and you can tell he really cares about his animals. I would recommend Chameleon Paradise to anyone. Loki was packaged extremely well. He also sent about 20 silk worms and some pure Vit A with him for free. Honestly I got such a good deal. I paid about $100 less (including shipping) for exactly what I wanted. His prices are fair and his products are amazing. It was definitely worth every dollar.
