He bit his own tongue?

ive had a male Jackson for almost a year now and he's been extremely docile and sweet. Today I found him at the bottom of his enclosure (I think he was hunting a cricket) with the tip of his tongue sticking out (about half a centimeter) this happened about 40 minutes ago and he's being extremely aggressive when I try to see inside his mouth. I'm very worried...

Try to drip water on it, don't let it dry. It really needs to be wet, even if you don't know the cause.

Occasionally they do bite their tongue accidentally. They can also overextend it and strain the muscle. Keep an eye on it and if he is unable to pull it back into his mouth completely (like leaving a lot of it dangling limp outside his lips) then he may have a serious injury that needs vet care. Some keepers do have chams who bit off most of their tongue but once it healed they could hand feed OK.
