Hanging Screen Enclosures

Hi all! I was wondering what you all think of the hanging screen enclosures? The ones that fold out? I am adopting a rescue chameleon on Monday and I was thinking of getting one of these. My Cham that I have now, Xev is in a very expensive set up and I just don't have the funds to recreate it right now. However this little gal needs a good home now.
So does anyone have first hand knowledge of these cages? Thanks!

I got some of these on clearance once when our local pet shop was getting rid of them for $5 each for medium sized ones. I thought they would be good for baby chams.

I'm not a fan. they have a tiny door and are hard to get into for basic feeding and watering, and hard to clean.

I would think it would be ok as a temp. cage until you can afford something better.
We want to get the med. one for her backup when we need to clean or transport her.
Our local reptile shop has a Male Veiled in a large one permanently and its very nice setup... but I agree, not sure how easy to get in and clean and interact.

Are you talking about the Exo-Terra pop-up ones that are round? If so, I have a few of them (medium and large) that I use for outdoor caging for some of my girls and/or smaller chams. I hang them from hooks on the upper lattice on my deck and they work great for a few hours at a time. I have also used them for temporary housing in a pinch but I would never use them for permanent housing. (and sometimes I take them with me to a show for transport home just in case I find something I can't live without....)

I have a large one I use for an outdoor enclosure, I like it but Im not sure I would use it for a permanent home.

I think they are a good idea and for use like you have them outside for awhile but for long term I wouldnt suggest them. They are fabric so after awhile alot of bacteria builds up from the moisture. They would work good for awhile but I would make a cage. If you dont care how it looks you can make a great one for like $50 and thats for at least a 2x2x4 foot cage if you know what to buy. If you can get the hang ones chea for now then it might be worth it but i wouldnt do it myself

Okay, so I getting that the popular opinion here is that they are great for temporary housing. Which is fine because that's all I need it for. Another question though....
I think it's still too cool outside here for Chams.
How do I set up lighting with one of these?

If I have had to use these in a pinch, I set the enclosure in question on the floor and then I use a fixture that has a clamp on it and clamp it to something close enough that the cham will still feel the warmth. I generally only will use these for one or two days at the most, so I don't worry about the UVB. They can go without it for a couple of days just fine.
