hello all.

my 4 month old jackson cham is really scared of me. i have not handled him much at all since he was a baby. i open the cage and he starts to literally run away. should i just grab him daily so he can calm down? thx

Do not just grab him this will make him more scared of you. You need to get him used to you being around without you trying to get at him. Open the door of the cage and sit in the room reading a book or something so he can see your not a threat. But keep an eye out that he doesn’t escape.

It may take a while but eventually he wander to the front of the enclosure and try and get out. You can try putting your hand in front of him at this point and see if he climbs on you. Don’t rush over though. Move slowly and let him come on his own. This may take several attempts to get him used to you.

another way to gain trust is with hand feeding. He will learn your hands aren’t a threat.
