Gutloading.....

I don't know about locust gutloading but I am gonna post this so it puts your thread back into view again and maybe someone can help you out!!!!

Thanks again for the help, i thought i knew so much yet in reality i seem to no very little, tho its all part of the learning curve and the challenge of keeping exotic pets, love it.
Still sticking to ure advice so far and have changed my locusts diet till i get abit more feed back, hopefully this should help out, just out of interest tho, is there any foods i should be avoiding giving the locust or is pretty much any form of fruit/veg safe?

I know with cricket gutloading they say avoid spinach and broccoli. My cham does not like eating crickets anymore, but i used to gutload with Kale, Collard greens, mustard greens, romaine lettuce(not iceberg) carrots, apples, mangos oranges, sweet pepper, squash, cantalope. You can try all of these and see what they eat and what they don't eat. I was hoping someone would chime in here on this.

What is the staple food you give your cham Carol, if you have a staple?

I have been feeding him superworms, hornworms, silkworms. More silkworms than the others. He will not eat crickets and I have not tried roaches. I cannot even phathom touching those things!!!!.

Do you gutload your worms, and how many worms do you feed, and do you feed daily?

Sorry OP dont mean to hijack your thread.

The only worms out of those three that are gutloadable are the superworms. I gutload them with fruits and vegetables like the crickets. The silks and horns eat a special chow made out of mulberry leaves or you can feed them the leaves if you have access to a tree. I feed my cham every other day now and feed him about six feeders or so on that day. Maybe like 4 silks and two supers. I add a waxworm in here and there. I periodically keep trying the crickets about once a month but he just won't budge on them!!! I just got through with a round of hornworms and they get so big so quick so I am trying to pupate 4 of them into moths to feed off. I don't know if it is going to work or not, as I have never done it before.

You should be able to gutload/feed locusts the same greens and veggies we feed crickets....dandelions, kale, collards, endive, escarole, sweet potato, squash, sweet red pepper, carrot, zucchini, etc.
