Hi I heard somewhere that is bad to gutload cricket with cat food, someone who knows this true? and why is that bad?

Hi! Yes that's right, cat food is bad. It's food for carnivourus mammals which means it had animal protiens and some other rubbish for filler. Chameleons are insectivores and their organs etc. are not equipped to break down meat and animal fat. The crickets will pass the bad stuff on and it could cause health issues.

Here's a great blog on gutloading, fresh fruit&veg plus a good dry mix is the way to go :) https://www.chameleonforums.com/blogs/sandrachameleon/

The high level of preformed vitamin A and the fat content are things to stay away from, IMO. Occassionally feeding dog or cat food to crickets will be okay, just dont do so every month. Instead, feed your crickets a variety of fresh vegetables and fruits, choosing items that provide well rounded nutrition.

and if you dont feel like spending a lot of time on gutloading, just use a few basic veggies and buy a quality prepared gutload, like dino fuel or cricket crack.
