Guessing she is gravid

Looks like Tiny is gravid, i just put a laying bin in her cage. Will she be this color until she lays? I have read that they take 20-30 days to produce eggs, is that from when she starts showing these colors or do these colors mean she is nearing her time to lay? This will be her first clutch (infertile) as well as mine, a bit nervous.

If she does lay eggs, make a dry run with them. practice your transfer, tupperware setup and egg placement, correct moisture level in medium. i was lucky and got to make several practice runs. use the opportunity and show your work to someone who has done it before. best to know what to do from experience, than everything you read and heard. each of my practice runs i learned something knew or forgotten.

certainly not receptive anyways. each one looks/acts a bit differently when gravid, so hard to say for sure she is egg carrying. She doesn't look overly fat (is she plump looking always, or just puffed annoyed up at the camera?)
anyways, you were right to put a laying bin in her cage. Until you know all the signs for your particular girl, its better safe than sorry.

Mine were usually darker than that when gravid.

BTW - Your cage looks a little sparse, in terms of plants and branches. do you have any live plants in there? Lots of horizontal and angled branches of varying diameters?

She has always been pretty plump, since the day I picked her up. Compared to my male she is fat. She has darkened up considerably since the last picture and I am positive that she is gravid now. She is pushing about 50 grams as of yesterday, my question is do her darker colors mean she is about to lay or is it just that she is gravid?

just that she is gravid. Often (but not always) they will reduce food intake and pace the cage, especially the floor, restlessly in the day leading up to laying /day of laying. But you never know for sure. Some give obvious signals, others are just sneaky

Thanks Sandra, I'll keep an eye out for any pacing, so is it 20-30 days from gravid coloration that she should lay?
