Grow Light

I have a little question, I saw on a previous thread that a grow light is recommended for my hibiscus plants and that sounds good, but is there a threat of hurting my little guys eyes if I do?

I know there's a problem with blindness with the compact UVB bulbs, but could I face a similar problem if I have 2 florescent and a incandescent basking light?

Nope. Just use the linear flourescent grow lights. They make other ones that put off too much...

Walmart sells an 18" one with a fixture for i think $9

I would stick with your regular uva/uvb, the hibiscus will grow believe me. I brought in a 2 foot plant that this spring did not look like he was making a comeback, so my wife tiold me to pull it out, i put it in some soil, and in my chams cage and it actually sprouted leaves. just try not to have the lamp too close to the hibiscus. I think Hibiscus is an excellent choice for a cham plant, it'll be especially good when it flowers and you can enter some pics in for the yearly photo contest!
