Goodbye little guy :(

My lil rescued anole Ollie died today peacfully in a spider plant on my porch. Woke up to him not doing so well. Refused to eat anything...I suspected this was coming but I am so torn up about him. I watched him lap up some water this morning. I had expected him to go days ago but he held on which is why I think I'm taking this so hard. He may have been tiny but he was special to me. I gave him a good last week of life my mom said. He lived out the rest of his days peacfully with sun and a breeze and sights of trees and bushes. He got to eat something other then meal worms that they gave him at the pet store and he didn't die with other anoles walking on him. I will dearly miss my lil guy who in only a week stole my heart :'-(

Sorry for your loss life is special no matter how tiny. At least you could make him comfortable for his last days. That seems to be the trouble with rescues, quite often by the time someone decent comes along, the damage is already done. He'll be in lizard heaven now, with bugs a plenty and lush green forests

Sorry he is gone, but your mom is right, just remember how much better you were able to make the last part of his life.

Thank you both. I'm glad I could give him these last days. I'm burrying him in the wooded area I was going to set him free in if he hadn't passed. My mom said he would have been happy there

It must be difficult to say goodbye to a creature who's life you tried to save. At least he died happy and loved

It truely was. I continue looking for him on my porch...
