Good bye barney boy

Barney boy passed tonight despite all efforts & medical we offered .he died from renal failure and a few weeks ago was the pix of health until he lost his grip and we had him checked out 775878_464973813558160_990327689_o.jpg

Ginger I am so sorry for you and Rodney.I knew you expected this, but that does not make it hurt less. At least you know you did everything you could for him. RIP Barney
 
Thanks...He fought a good fought and before anything seemed wrong it was too late. We actually thought he turned the corner but a vet friend told us in chameleons there is a surge of adrenoline then they crash. We are extremley heart broken over his passing and enjoyed him so much while he was here

Surge of adrenalin? First time I've heard that. One of the insidious long term effects of poor care (before you got him I mean) is dehydration during their stressful capture and shipping and resulting kidney damage. It can't always be reversed. Sorry you lost your melleri. They deserve the best we can give them.
 
We had him for 2 years and he drank a lot so I don't think dehydration played a role as you can see how well acclimated he was. Not sure exactly what or why
