Snapped a couple shots of my newest chameleon! Pics don't do him justice. He ate his second cricket today, and I put him in his new home yesterday. Very shy eater, but an eager drinker. He's lapping at the leaves usually seconds after I mist. Need to get him a dripper is all. They were out at petsmart .

This pic of my veiled came out horrible, but it was the best out of 3. Will work on getting better shots of him, hopefully outside. The enclosure lighting really messes up the shots with this guy. He is really showing awesome maturation. When I got him he was 2-3 months old https://www.chameleonforums.com/introducing-my-chameleon-28923/. He's now 4-5 months old. Wish I knew exact DoH.

Nice looking chams! You can make a dripper - something as simple as a plastic tumbler/disposable 'glass'/cup with a pin prick hole in the bottom will do until you can get a proper dripper set up for him.

Thanks!

I tried that, but what I didn't like was that the water collected at the top of the screen, and then falls down at once. Called petco (different major petstore) and they have little drippers in stock so he'll have a more constant water supply in an hour or so from now :).

Couple more (better quality) shots.

Yup, he's on the ceiling. I leave his enclosure open with access to his free range ficus, and he always climbs out on his own to explore. The tail nip wound he had since I picked him up. I noticed it right away but I instantly felt a soft spot for him in my heart and took him anyway. I'm 99% sure it's an old wound and not retained shed, since the area itself has shed since I've had him without an issue, but I'm definetly not qualified to make such a call. He grips with the tail normally from what I can tell.

Thanks for the article and the kind words. The only info I had on this species was from searching the web and this forum.

It's very addicting. Was going to wait a while before getting a second but in the end I couldn't resist.

Yea, I really like my 2 males that I have. Fischer's are really cool, mine are very shy also...but they quickly become use to u and will eat right away when I put crickets in their cages. Just make sure there is plenty of hiding spots for them and ALOT of water.

My Fischer's is still very shy, especially when it comes to eating. I'm worried that perhaps he's not eating enough, but hopefully he's still settling in and this will improve. He'll eat at most 2 crickets a day. My chams are in my room so when I'm in there cleaning or doing activities which involve motion I put cardboard covering the front of their cages so they have privacy. Cardboard also between the two cages, of course.

Regarding supplementation...how am I going to dust the fischer's feeders when he doesn't eat them right away? I'm worried the dust will fall off the crickets and he won't get the proper supplements.

He's not supposed to be there lol. I left his enclosure open the other day and he decided to climb up that wire and onto the light fixture, instead of onto his free range ficus like he usually does. I baited him down off the light with a cricket a couple seconds after taking the pics, in fact, that's what he's looking at in the last pic.

I was monitoring him the whole time.

I use Reptivite as the main supplementation. It is very sticky and stays on the crickets for some time.......U really dont need to supplement to much for the montanes......

What supplement schedule is recommended for fischer's/montane species? I've been dusting with calcium w/o d3 every other day, and planned to use herpavite twice a month and calcium with d3 twice a month.

I supplement 1-2 x week without D3 and w/D3 1x month....but mine are outside almost every day unless it gets hot.

R/n Florida is waaay too hot, so I keep them indoors. I used to take my Veiled out daily but he hates being handled and it seemd to be more stressful than beneficial for him, so my chameleons rarely get natural sunlight.
