Glass enclosure???

Ok so yesterday I was helping a friend move and he had a large glass enclosure he was going to throw away so I took it since it was free and in great shape! We own many chameleons and they are all housed in screen enclosures but this thing is super cool and I would love to house a cham in it just wanted to see everyones opion on what type of chams do well in glass enclosures?? Thanks guys!!

So I've already battled this topic many times and it will always be battled.. It REALLY all depends on the chameleon for the most part... Most will say that really any true chameleon should not be housed in glass for purposes of ventilation and for purposes of a stress factor in seeing their own reflection... BUT THAT BEING SAID there are people that make it work and if you are in a dryer climate such as in Europe it is more common than not to use a glass enclosure... If you were to use it I would say get crested geckos or day geckos BUUUT thats just me hope that helps

I agree I see this argument all the time and I do agree that chams benefit from screen enclosures but I always see people saying there are certain types of chams that do well in glass. I have only kept panthers and veiled chams and they have all done great in there screen habitats. I do have a crested gecko and thought about housing him in this glass habitat and I also thought about getting a giant leaf tail gecko I just love chameleons and thought about branching out to something besides veileds and panthers. thanks for your input

Maybe it would help if you described the glass enclosure. What kind of venting would you have? If its a basic glass box with a screen top, there may not be enough air exchange possible. But, if it has screen panels or vents, you could make it work with careful monitoring and control of moisture and heat buildup.

Most any chameleon could do well in certain glass enclosures.
For the most part, the environment within the enclosure is more important that the construction material.

Yes, it depends on the type of cham and also the type of glass enclosure and if it will give the cham the proper air flow. Maybe post a pic of the enclosure??

I have a couple of these (i.e. uroplatus) available as well..... just saying.

Can you PM me with some pics and more info please! And as far as the enclosure it's 3 tall 2 deep and 2 wide with screen top and the air flow thing around the base much like the exoterra ones
