I have always been amazed how baby chams sleep. They will pile up on each other and sleep.
I snapped a few pics from different cages of babies. They all do the same thing.

I would definitely assume it is for security. As they get older they stop doing this.
I don't think they pile up on each other at night for warmth. My cham room is pretty warm at night. I suppose it could be an instinctual behavior as they may need to do in the wild for colder weather or heavy rain.
