Funny Story...

So the other day my roommate and I were sitting in the living room. My roommate was sitting on a little couch next to the chameleon cage, and was sitting sideways on it so that her face was at the far end of the couch but facing the chameleon cage.

We were sitting there, both on our computers, when suddenly she asks me "Ashley, whats wrong with the chameleon? He's been staring at me"
I look up and my cham was standing on a vine, BRIGHT green all puffed up literally staring at my roommate. Then he stood up tall on his legs and started swinging back and forth making the vine shake violently. He looked like a monkey, and it was hilarious yet puzzling. Weve had the chameleon since last january, and my roommate sits in this same couch in the same way all the time and this has never happened.

I stood up and walked to the cage and he looked away from her and to me and calmed down a bit. She then stood up and walked over and he blew up again and started shaking on the vine once more.

It was then we realized that she was wearing a neon green shirt. We wondered if perhaps the shirt was making him believe she was another chameleon. So she went in her room and changed shirts to something less reptilian. Sure enough when she came back out in a new top and walked over to him he didnt react at all. she held up the green shirt in front of her then and he changed colors and inflated himself again.

I dont know if he wanted to mate with her or thought she was a rival man getting all up in his space, but it was literally one of the best things I had ever seen.

Just thought Id share a funny story with you all! :D

Chameleons do the craziest things! My one guy hated this pink towel I used to put in the bottom of the cage to soak up the water. I did not realize it at the time, but I figured it out when he was shaking and got all skinny. He was looking downward and that was all I thought it could possibly be. As soon as I removed the towel he stopped. My daughter went to wipe up water one day also and called in me in a panic that Romeo was freaking out. After questioning her, come to find it was the pink towel again. Needless, to say we never used it again!

Great stories! My Jackson's is used to eating worms from a clear plastic spoon when I treat him, and one day he magically thought that spoon was a female...and began impressing "her"!!
