Fruit Fly questions (Dusting/gut loading) ?

I have a couple of question when it come to feeding my baby Ambilobe Panther Chameleon.

He is about 3 - 3.5 months old. He was shipped with fruit flies and Herptivite, Rep-Cal w/D3 and Miner-Al-0 supplements.

I received a schedule from Kammerflage and some directions but want to make sure I am doing it right.

Question 1 : What is the best method for dusting fruit flies?
Question 2 : How many do I feed him?
Question 3 : Do you gut load fruit flies?

Any additional information on this subject would be appreciated and welcomed

Thanks,

The files are meant to be an additive to your feeding schedule; the files for the most part only eat the media in the bottom of the cup. Also they are a pain to dust because of there size… You will need to get some crickets and or worms, gut load and dust them as well.

Np. Now it’s not to say that you can’t feed the flies, I just mean that you should not depend on them to be the core of your feeding/dusting/gut load routine. You will find the best deal by buying your crix in bulk at least 1k at a time.

I put a little calcium in a cup. just a little. I shake in some fruit flies. I shake and swirl the cup until the flies are coated. I put cup in the chameleon habitat. If the flies can still climb the sides of the cup, that's it. If the flies cant climb, I help them with a twig.

I keep flies in two or three different types of medium, which I hope means slightly different nutritional values and maybe even altered taste.

I agree adding small crickets, small silkies etc is a good plan too

What's up Ryan?

What's up with this thread Ryan? This thread seems a bit hinky for a man of the chameleon world like you :) Ha...Ha....I just saw the date on the original post. Rocky why did you resurrect this old thread?
