i've heard of people feeding their chams fresh veggies like romaine lettuce for vitamins, however i am unsure about it. ill be getting my 2nd baby veiled soon and trying to get a basic plan for the diet to start him out on. so does anyone feed their chams veggies?? ive got all the supplements to dust his live food with so i guess im confused on if they need fresh veggies and if they will even eat them!

Actually, in the stores we'll offer lettuce to the chameleons when we have extra. I know of a handful of customers (and my dad) who offer their chameleons big leaves of lettuce by hanging them with clips in the cage, and once in a while the chameleons go over and munch down. My dad used to have a huge male veiled that would chow down on lettuce and cilantro like no one's business. I thought for a long time that he wasn't watering it enough, but he had a misting system on it, a dripper, and a fogger that would run several times a day.

The picture we use for the adult males we have for sale is actually his old cham - big, beefy dude. And he liked his veggies!

My dad now has a male panther that he'll offer greens to on occasion, but the panther doesn't seem to go for them as much as the veiled did.

Hope that was helpful!

I do! ;) Zaphod does enjoy some greens from time to time. I usually hang some kale, collard greens, turnip greens, or romaine in his enclosure on one of the clips used in aquariums for the same thing. I also have some in his feeding dish, but that's mostly for the feeders ;). Its not at all neccessary due to the fact that the feeders are getting the exact same stuff, but he does enjoy it, so why not?

that's great to know! thanks for the replies and info! i will definitely see what my little guy thinks of it after he gets all settled in :) i love how much information gets exchanged on this forum, i dont know what id do without it!
