Free roaming or in a cup?

Is it best to put crickets in a pot to feed a new chameleon or let them roam freely around in a big vivarium?

Good thinking! Just let the grasshoppers roam around obviously lol cheers
yes would recommend cup or hand feeding

If you just let them go inside the cages your cham might end up with a bite and the locusts will eat all your live plants!! I can tell you this from expirience lol I now have half a corn plant

I've used hoppers before for months roaming free and overnight too. Thankfully without any problems. I only have a maximum of three at any one time

Sadly my chameleon passed away last week with pneumonia. I've another one coming on Thursday. Ironically I'd just installed his new vivarium whilst he was away at the veterinary clinic. Gutted.

He never got to see it.

Ah thank you so much.
Hammy only ate grasshoppers and crickets.

I'd tried lots of other feeders:

Dubia, banana and red runner roaches
Wax, meal, calci and silk worms
Snails

Zero interest in any of them! ??

When I had a smaller enclosure I would let them free range but ever since moving up to the 4x2x2 I use the cup. Interesting observation though, when I feed my Cham every morning he does a rotation around his entire enclosure and then heads to his feeder cup. Almost like he's hunting.
