Flexarium and Vines

Hey so i'll be getting a panther cham at my cities reptile show around Sept. It'll be my first cham so I've taken extra steps to ensure that everything will be set up and operating as intended long before the big guy arrives. I stay in regular contact with the breeder who fills me in on the father/mother and is kind enough to give advice when needed. I stumbled across this site and figured it'd be easier and less of a headache to bug you guys or girls instead ;).

Right now I have a exo terra flexarium, 20gal just because of how small he'll be when I first get him. I plan on buying an aluminum screen cage at some point but figured I would be moving him within several months and that a flexarium would be more then suitable. My issue right now is attaching these fake vines to the flexarium. Everywhere I read, including some threads here suggest hooking or wrapping around the flex frame. I've tried this and noticed 2 things, first being that the vine seems firm but when slightly pushed on bends and I'd hate for the cham to fall off because of it. Second problem being that the screen is so tight around the frame that if I have vines all around I can't even close it properly. Any suggestions as to how I can avoid this? I'm almost tempted just to buy from pvc pipe and find a way to attach it to the frame on the inside and just wrap vines around it then. Any help is appreciated.

Welcome to the forum and wise decision to start here ;). Some members use push pins, thumb tacks, etc to attach the vines. Just push the pin from the outside of the screen into the vine or branch.

Interesting, how firm or rigid should I expect these vines to get? I think thats my biggest concern is getting them up and making sure they are safe for a chams weight.

Personally I use plain branches from a tree in my front yard and have never used the fake vines. Too me they seem to flimsey and if your cham is young his weight shouldn't be a big factor. Just make sure you have different diameter limbs for his little feet to grasp on.
