FINALLY getting a Chameleon

I have been researching, and planning for a chameleon for about 4 years now. I recently moved to the Mediterranean island of Cyprus where they live in the wild- so I have decided there would be no better time to get one then now! I am extremely excited to care for my little guy. I just want to ask some questions.

My apartment is very well lit with natural light, well ventilated with a natural breeze, and the temperature on the island remains in their needed temperature range all year- with that being said-should I still get the secondary USV light that simulates sun, or can he live happily in a more natural environment? I still plan on providing a basking light unless suggested other wise.

I am not currently connected to a local vet as I am new to town, how often do you need to take a chameleon in for a check up? I hope to take it in after purchasing it because the only option here on the island is to purchase from a pet store rather than a local breeder.

I am looking forward to being to participate more in chameleon forums now that I will be an owner. :) if you have any tips post away!

Welcome to the forum!

What species will you be getting?
Will it be in a cage?
Do you know about feeding/gutloading insects?
Do you know about supplements?
How will you provide water?

What species naturally lives There? Is there a species endemic to the island or are we talking about a population of escapees?
