Finally Finished 38 eggs

After two days of digging, Desi finally laid, covered up and climbed into her branches. I misted her well and she drank forever, then she ate 2 supers. She is now on her sleeping branch, probably sleeping.

I removed the 38 eggs to the incubation bin and put them next to the box with Lucy's 34 eggs. Can you believe it, I have 72 fertile eggs! Since this is their first clutches, I guess I shouldn't expect them all to become babies, but I will keep my fingers crossed I get a nice bunch.

#3 who is carring unfertilized eggs doesn't seem interested in laying yet. How long before a receptive female will develop eggs on her own? I would like to try to figure out approximately when she might lay.

Thank you all for your patience and support.

Congrats on two successful layings! You are going to be busy in about 7 months!

If your chameleons are healthy then you could have 100% hatch rate and a good survival rate as well.

As for your 3rd one...you said..."How long before a receptive female will develop eggs on her own?"...some will never lay infertile eggs...some will...and some even seem to reabsorb the eggs. Part of it has to do with the diet (amount of food) you feed them and the temperatures that you keep them at. All I can say is make sure she has a suitable place to dig in her cage so you don't miss the sometimes subtle signs that she is carrying eggs and needs to lay them.

Thanks kinyonga. Yes, I have a bin and yes, I can see eggs. I have been taking her weight and it went from 90.72 g to 102.06 g in 5 days. That is more then either of the other 2 when they laid.
