Ficus Benjamina and veileds

I'm getting my first baby veiled and currently i don't have any real plants in the enclosure.

I was thinking about getting the Ficus Benjamina but the plant list said it wouldn't be a good idea for leaf chompers.

Should I be worried about this with my baby?

Also what do you guys do to clean a plant. water rinse in a shower?

A Ficus Benjamina is fine for veileds. The toxicity is mild and quite a bit would need to be consumed before you saw any ill effects.

A Ficus is a hardy plant that will stand up to the abuse an active little chameleon will throw at it. Its sturdy branches will provide ample climbing areas, and the leaves do a good job holding water dropplets.

I like to use a ficuses, umbrellas, hibiscuses, and pothos plants in my enclosures.

To prep plants for an enclosure:

-Wash the leaves, branches, and trunk with a mild soap solution, to remove and unwanted fertalizers and pestacides

-Re-Pot the plant in organic soil. Most people cover the soil with river rock to prevent the chameleon from accidentally consuming the soil during feeding, with babies I'd recommend it

-Make sure the plant can drain properly to prevent root rot

-Elevate the plant off the bottom so you have ventalation under the plant. This will minimize pooling water under the plant, which is a breeding ground for bacteria, and health hazards.

FIcus benjamina is the majority plant i have in all my enclosures, i have 4 in one enclosure right now.

looks like grasslands of ficus plants.

alright, the prep might take longer than tonight.

Once I get the animal how long would I need to wait before I start rearranging the enclosure? I don't want to stress the poor guy out anymore than it will already be tomorrow.

its best to get it done prior to arrival, i know myself, and i couldn't stop fiddling with things even after he was in there, he'd stress out, id stop for the day, and go back at it the next day.
