Fertile or unfertile?

I have a 11 month old panther was looking receptive & was mated 3 weeks ago. She immediately changed to gravid colors . She is laying eggs right now so my question is , could they be fertile after only 3 weeks?. My other female held them for 30 days.

You know that old saying, "Don't count your eggs til they hatch"?, well it definitely applies with chameleons as well. I have no experience with Panthers, but I have had a clutch of Veileds eggs that is a similar situation to yours. She got mated after I felt she had already started to produce eggs. She laid eggs and I didn't know if she was mated too late or not, so I kept the eggs regardless. Well, they started hatching last night. Just incubate them as if you were sure they were fertile. I did note that I started to see veins inside one of my eggs I had set aside in another container after about 3-4 months of development. I have heard people say that they had infertile eggs go full term before they began to dessicate. Never say never, and keep them til they all either spoil, or hatch little baby Panthers.

Sometimes they will lay earlier than the normal 30 days if they were too far along in their cycle and the first batch will be mostly/totally infertile. Its often followed in a shorter than normal time with a fertile clutch. Time will tell!

Thanks for sharing your experiences. I thought it would be questionable so I have set them up as if they are all fertile & we'll see how they develop. She just finished at lights out & the final count is 31. All but 3 look good to me but not 100% sure.

Post pictures! ^__^. I looked at mine this weekend, every egg had veins, and 3 weren't able to see. One even had a red little curled tail. :). I agree with the don't count your eggs until they hatch. So many people ask to buy one and I have to say no for now.. Good Luck! I'm sure she will produce viable eggs!

If you saw veins and a tail, good to go.
