Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon – Veiled
I’ve had it for 7 months.
Handling – I handle her once or twice a week. She doesn't seem to mind that much.
Feeding – She has been eating meal worms covered in calcium dust every other day for the first 6 months and I have been feeding her hornworms for the past month.
Supplements – I dust my crickets every other day with repashy calcium plus.
Watering – I don't have see any fecal samples right now :(
History – She’s been really healthy up until now. She is fairly puffy so I think she may be gravid. I also have a male chameleon, but they don't see each other often (once a week - Maybe.

Cage Info:
Cage Type – Screen cage. 18” x 18” x 36”. Repti-breeze from zoomed.
Lighting – Sorry I don't know the lights as these are my GFs cameleons. They are on a 12 hour day.
Temperature – The coldest the house gets is0 at night. The bottom of the cage is probably 70 and the top is 94. I haven't measured the temps with any equipment.
Humidity –Lowest Humidity is 30%. I mist the chams once to twice per day with a spray bottle.
Plants – Using fake plants
Placement – Cage is against a wall. Not near any fans or air vents or anything like that. Top of cage is 66 inches high.
Location - Virginia USA don’t see how this has anything to do with it. It’s winter outside but house stays warm at 70 degrees.

She is a little more poofy than usual and may be gravid. If she is, this is her first time. I have a box with soil at the bottom of the cage, but so far she hasn't shown much interest and I haven't noticed any clawing marks. She is having difficulty climbing with her rear legs and will just splay them out to the sides and try and grasp for something. She pretty much only lays where she is put. She does not pull away when I touch her legs so I don't think she is experiencing pain, but I'm not 100% sure. I have uploaded a video of her trying to grab on to a vine, here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pLI1dUTzUcg

I'm pretty sad, because she seems unhappy :((((

I watched the video, and thats definitely not normal.

if shes gravid, its possible the eggs are pushing on her spinem causing issues with nerves.

i suggest a vet visit for xrays is needed.

she may need a shot of oxytocin to get the egg laying going.

she may need surgery if egg binding has/is occurred/occuring.

do you have a cham vet?

its also possible that the mealworms have caused impaction, and again put pressure on her spine and nerves to her back legs.

mealies arent the best to feed regularly because of this.

why does she not get crickets or dubias? these are considered much better as a daily feeder.

Thanks for your help Camimom! I'll be finding a vet tomorrow. Lately she has been eating the horn worms so I don't know why the meal worms would have hurt her so after not eating them for a month.

I'll talk to my gf about switching her food.

any idea on costs for the vet visit? Thanks.

Wher in VA are you located?

If youre near the MD line, Best friends animal hospital is who i use.

They are located in gaithersburg md.

Hornworms are good, but not high in nutrition.

If its been a month since shes had mealies, then my best guess is eggs.

Cost- is i think 75.00 for the exam. x rays i dont know cuz ive never needed them.
