I just got a new panther, she is 7 months old and I would like to know if I should have a laying bin in her cage? now or should I wait for her to get her receptive colors? in case she should lay infertile eggs.....

You don't really have to have a bin in their cage. When they are near or on the bottom of the cage it's time to either put a bin in the cage or move her to a bucket.

When you can really feel the eggs inside her towards her hind legs she around 1 week from laying or less in my experience. If she hasn't gone receptive yet I wouldn't worry about it.

you should keep a laying bin all year round for female panthers

especially since she's past 6 months of age.

Agreed. Even the ultra-experienced can sometimes miss the subtle signs of a female that needs to lay. Better safe than sorry.

I am well tuned to my females, I know when they are going to need their laying bins. but even so, I always have a laying bin, or at least a mini test bin in there at all times. better safe than sorry!

It isn't completely necessary if you know what a female is going to look like when she is pregnant but I always do it. Infertile eggs are often smaller than fertiles and won't show as much in the stomach if she is carrying a small clutch. Also sometime females don't show gravid colors. I have a female panther that has laid 2 clutches and has not shown gravid colors yet while gravid, only immediately after mating she shows them and then not again til the day she lays. I know when she's going to lay because she swells up like a ballon though. In any case I would just put a bin in the bottom of the cage. Good luck.

IMHO the laying bin should be left in the cage of any egglaying female so that one doesn't miss the sometimes subtle signs that she needs to lay eggs. Why risk eggbinding when this will help to prevent it???
