Feeding schedule.

Can I stop feeding my 4 month old panther for couple of days?

This is my 2nd cham and with the 1st one I learned not to feed the chams the same food everyday. With this one I am trying variety of foods. I feed him dubia and blatia roaches, superwarms, crickets, (praying mantids, silkworms and banana roaches when I had them). Recently I noticed that he will not eat dubia or blatia roaches, but once I place several crickets or a superworm on the cage he will go for them. He can it 6 or 7 large crickets and a mealworm. I do not feed him superworms everyday. I give a superworm or two sometimes once a week or every other week. My concern that he will get tired of those also and will stop eating altogether. So if I stop feeding him for couple of days maybe he will get hungry enough to eat the roaches.

P.S. He already shed 3 times. I have since the Aug 13th.

At four months old I wouldn't skip 2 days without feeding just to get him to eat something different. They each have their own taste just like we do. They like and dislike certain foods.

Whether I want to feed him or not, he only ate 2 crickets and maybe a medium size dubia. Maybe he is ready to go through another shed, however, he went through one about a week or two ago.

Take a look at these maybe you can tell me if he looks healthy.

Sorry for the large images. I want you see full details. It looks like by the 3 image that he is going to shed and maybe this the cause for low appetite. Last time he shed he did not eat much either. Can someone confirm?

Some just don't like roaches very much. Don't make him eat, just offer food and if he chooses to eat then he will. I wouldn't feed mealworms too much... Superworms are better in my opinion.

Chameleons won't usually boycot all food. And aparently, sometimes leaving your chameleons outside a lot to get natural sunshine will restimulate their system to start eating again when they do go on hunger strikes. But yes, don't force him to eat anything he doesn't want to, and see what other feeders you can get your hands on to offer variety.

Although I am all for variety, I wouldnt restrict his choices or make him go without at his young age. A day without food wont hurt him, but its also not likey to change his eating habits. If he's drinking, pooping, active and growing at a moderate rate, and the crickets and supers are gutloaded - good enough. Worry about forcing variety into him when he's older.

If you're concerned about him, feel free to post your responses to the "how to ask for help" questionaire. Never hurts to have your husbandry verified.
