my cham is 5 month old and is eating small crickets 2 at a time.the only other choice i have locally now is large crickets.i fed him some today, while i watched,he chewed on them for awhile but got them down.is this very dangerous ?might he choke?some how injure his mouth from fight crickets?its a panther. thanks

the general rule of thumb is dont feed a cham anything that is longer the the space between their eyes.
im not sure bout this, but i think larger ones can choke them and cause them to be "stuffed up" for awhile and not eat anything until it works thru their system, JMO tho

It is a very real possibility that your cham could choke if you feed them too large of prey items. Worms aren't quite the problem, since they are more like spaghetti for humans, but roaches, mantids and crickets could all pose a choking hazard. You may want to see if a local member on here would go in with you to buy a large batch of small crickets, and that way you could split up the order and be able to use them up before they got too big.

thanks for the replies:) most of the pet stores around me didnt ha e small crickets because they died during shipping because of the cold weather.found only a few large ones.things should be back to normal this week.i wont feed large crickets again if i can help it:)
